Made from solid brass, this cleat hook is traditionally sand-cast and carefully hand-finished for strength, weight and longevity. Subtle variations in surface texture are inherent to the casting process, giving each piece its own individual character.

Design

A traditional cleat form refined for interior use and proportioned specifically for securing Roman blind cords. Unlike lightweight pressed or plated fittings, the Lewis Cleat is cast in solid brass, giving this small piece of window hardware a satisfying weight and permanence.

A cleat hook is a tiny detail, but it's one you see and use every day. I designed the Lewis because I wanted something substantial enough to sit comfortably alongside traditional joinery and good-quality Roman blinds, rather than treating the cord cleat as an afterthought. I particularly like it positioned neatly on the window frame or reveal so it feels part of the architecture.

Use Case

Designed primarily for securing the operating cord of Roman blinds. Suitable for bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms and other interiors where the blind hardware remains visible and forms part of the overall window detailing.

Finish Notes

The solid brass is left raw and unlacquered so it can age naturally. It will gradually oxidise and mellow with exposure to air and touch, developing a deeper, richer patina over time. Slight variations in colour and surface texture are part of the character of traditionally cast brass.
