Café Curtain Rails
Unlacquered Brass Café Curtain Rails
Our collection of café curtain rails and traditional window fittings is designed for interiors where even the smallest architectural details matter. Made from solid, unlacquered brass, our café curtain poles offer a simple and elegant way to dress sash windows, providing privacy without sacrificing natural light.
Particularly suited to Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian homes, café curtains are an attractive alternative to full-length curtains in kitchens, bathrooms and other rooms where a lighter window treatment is preferred.
Brass Café Curtain Rail Sets
Our Unlacquered Brass Café Curtain Rail Set is designed for straightforward installation, with a solid brass pole supported by traditional end brackets.
For windows where the curtain pole needs to fit between the sides of a window reveal, our Unlacquered Brass Café Curtain Rail Set with Recessed Brackets provides an alternative arrangement.
Both styles are available in a selection of lengths to suit different windows. The simplicity of the design allows the natural character of the brass and the fabric of the curtain to take centre stage.
Café Curtain Brackets and Centre Supports
Individual fittings are also available for customers creating their own curtain arrangements or adapting an existing installation.
Our Café Curtain End Bracket provides a traditional fixing for the end of a brass curtain pole, while the Recessed Café Curtain End Bracket allows the pole to sit between opposing surfaces.
For wider windows, the Centre Bracket provides additional support along the length of the rail, helping to maintain a neat and secure installation.
These separate components make it possible to accommodate different window proportions and installation requirements.
Brass Curtain Rings and Cord Weights
The Piccolo Brass Curtain Ring offers a traditional solution for supporting curtains on a brass pole. Its simple design complements the understated character of our café curtain fittings.
The collection also includes The Lewis Cord Weight, Unlacquered Brass, a decorative finishing detail for traditional window blinds and cord-operated window treatments.
Natural Brass and Traditional Craftsmanship
Our café curtain fittings are supplied in unlacquered brass, allowing the metal to develop a natural patina over time. Rather than remaining uniformly polished, the surface gradually acquires the warmth and character associated with traditional brass hardware.
At Mark Lewis Interior Design, we favour honest materials, considered proportions and practical fittings that sit comfortably within period interiors.
Whether restoring original sash windows or introducing café curtains to a kitchen or bathroom, our brass curtain rails and individual fittings provide an elegant, enduring approach to window dressing.
Material
Crafted from solid brushed brass, this café curtain rail set features durable cast brass brackets for a robust and elegant finish. The unlacquered brass allows for natural aging, developing a rich patina over time.
Design
Perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, this rail system is ideal for hanging café curtains or creating below-counter skirts, bringing privacy and character to period and contemporary interiors.
Complete the arrangement with our Café Curtain Rings, designed to complement the unlacquered brass rail.
Style advice from Mark
For a timeless and understated look, pair these rails with light linen café curtains or classic gingham. They’re ideal for dressing the bottom sash in a sash window, allowing privacy while letting natural light pour in from above, creating a perfect balance of function and elegance.
Installation
Rails are available in five lengths (0.6m, 0.85m, 1.2m, 1.6m, and 2.0m) and can be easily cut on-site for a custom fit. Each set includes brackets: smaller sets come with 2 end brackets, while longer sets include additional center brackets for extra support. Supplied with brass screws.
Craftsmanship
Carefully handcrafted in a British foundry, each rail and bracket showcases subtle variations from traditional hand-finishing methods, adding character and authenticity to every piece.
